An open discipline creative aerial workshop from the hugely talented aerialist Joana Dias, focusing on somatic movement, the emotions we have in connection to technique, and how we take ground-based movement into the air and into our relationship with our equipment.Â
This workshop is aimed at aerialists with professional experience, whether emerging or more established. Workshop leader Joana Dias focuses mainly on aerial hoop but this workshop will be open discipline and relevant to, for example, rope, trapeze, dance trapeze, silks etc.Â
The workshop focuses mainly on solo vocabulary but the creative research, prompts and provocations could be taken into doubles work. There will be a variety of aerial apparatuses available to work with at the workshop venue. Â
This is a physical aerial circus workshop which requires people to have a certain degree of experience and strength in aerial work and to know in yourself that you are fit and healthy to do this type of work – whatever that means for you. Aerial by nature can be a dangerous activity; we will provide a safe space, with quality equipment, safety procedures, experienced and professional instructors, but there is an element of risk when participating.Â
On booking a ticket you will be asked to tell us any information you think is relevant for instructors to know prior to the session in order to best support you during the workshop. You will also be asked to let us know your name, date of birth and an emergency contact. Please contact us if you have any questions.Â
A first aider will be present.
