Indoor Performance Bursary for Art in Public Space 2026-27
Manipulate Arts & Surge
The Indoor Performance Bursary for art in public space is a new seed funding programme offered in partnership by Surge and Manipulate Arts for artists to develop a new performance work to be delivered in non-theatre spaces.
The seed commission is intended to support one artist or group to undertake development on a new work, with a view to sharing it as a work-in-progress as part of Manipulate Arts’ new festival Undercurrents in February 2027.
This latest opportunity builds upon a long history of collaboration between Surge and Manipulate Arts to support the visual and physical performance sector in Scotland as part of their shared commitment to sector and talent development.

Seeking new work by D/deaf and Hard of Hearing performance artists and filmmakers – no fixed deadline
Manipulate Festival are seeking new work by D/deaf or Hard of Hearing Creatives to consider for programming at our future festivals. If you or a leading member of your creative team are D/deaf or Hard of Hearing working in Scotland or the rest of the UK with an existing or new piece of work you would like to propose for our programme, we would love to hear from you.
Given our highly visual remit, we have a strong organisational commitment to D/deaf artists and audiences and as such are always keen to present exciting new work by and for the D/deaf community. In recent years we have programmed new visual theatre work by artists such as Ramesh Meyyappan and Petre Dobre.
